Cobb County has multiple tax incentives and exemptions for residents and property owners.
One of these is the “senior tax exemption” which exempts property owners who are 62+ from paying property taxes in the School General and School Bond tax categories.
The Cobb County School Board has no control or power over any property tax exemptions.
In the past, concerns have arisen that school board members could affect the exemption but all aspects of that option are set and controlled by the state legislature.

Additional information can be found at cobbtax.org and cobbassessor.org.
The school board does set the millage rate which results in the tax revenue that funds our schools and makes up ~70% of our property tax bills.
I want to ensure that we’re responsible with our investments and don’t waste the money we already collect.
I’m not interested in taking away hard earned exemptions, even if I could.
